EPIC REQUESTS: To request, use the Consult to Radiology tab in EPIC. Be sure to send the request to your AA and inform them in the message that this is for a Radiology request. In addition, be sure to note the urgency. If this is a request that needs to be fulfilled immediately, mark the message as URGENT and consider calling or emailing your AA.
SMARTPHRASE AND FOLLOW UP EMAIL: To be in compliance with federal regulations NY Home X ray needs to provide documentation that does the following:
Reason for the exam
Area of the body to be x-rayed
A statement concerning the condition of the patient which indicates why portable x-ray services are necessary
Of note, unlike us, home radiology companies are able to bill for transportation because they are lugging around big pieces of equipment. Use this smartphrase in the body of the note that you forward to the AA:

So the workflow is:
Provider creates a telephone encounter. In the Reason for Call choose: PROVIDER ODERS and in Comments write "Requesting NY Home X-Ray" (this helps the AA identify the telephone encounter). Provider completes the requisite smartphrase .VDHomeXray, and then forwards this to the AA.
The AA sends the order and documentation to NY Home X ray
NY Home X ray will generate an email and will send it to the provider to sign. The email will come from alerts@medimatrix.net
The provider needs to sign the order within 24 hours of the order being placed; the pw is the last four digits of the provider’s NPI# and the first letter of the provider’s last name in uppercase.
URGENT REQUESTS AND NO EPIC? NO PROBLEM! If you are out in the field and do not have access to EPIC, you may call the Triage RN 212-241-3163 to request the imaging. Alternatively, you may call NYHOMEXRAY directly. Try to have insurance information.
REQUEST DOs AND DON'Ts: You must note in the request reasons for being homebound and the reason for the imaging. "Rule-out" is UNACCEPTABLE!
